vb, There is a listing of participating pharmacies on the EC Network. The url is: http://www.massecnetwork.org.
It would be great if more pharmacists used this opportunity to practice Collaborative Drug Therapy Management. It would help persuade those at the State House to vote in favor of passing the CDTM bill.
The CE program in Wakefield was great. It always amazes me how I can go to the same CE and learn something new. Thanks to all who supported the CE program. Thanks to Mike DeRosa for a great job with his first CE program.
Stop and Shop has Standing Orders for Emergency Contraception. Great to see so Stop and Shop pharmacists coming to the web site to do the EC Training Program.
Congratulations to Chuck Young and his new position with Mass Health. Chuck is an advocate of all things good for the practice of Pharmacy in Massachusetts. It was great to see him honored by his colleagues last evening.
The Professional Development CE program today was excellent. Thanks to all the participants for the level of participation. It is great to able to learn from sharing with eachother.
There are many opportunities for pharmacists to get involved: Emergency Contraception, Smoking Cessation and being advocates for legislative change inthe profession like Collaborative Drug Therapy Management.
Professional Development day 2 brought a host of new information for pharmacists. Gregg Mullens, PharmD, DDM talked about oral health and the relationship with many diseases. We also learned the importance of "replacing toothbrushes" every 3-4 weeks and especially after any kind of an illness. Dry mouth is a diseases state where we really can make a tremendous difference in the quality of our patient's lives. Nate Rickles from the NEU SOP faculty helped us experience the importance of the listen and asking the right questions when we are counseling our patients. We all could relate to his presentation. Mike DeRosa made Insomnia anything but a "sleepy" topic. Paul Garbarini is a terrific asset for Northeastern. His case studies on Pharmacy Law made for a very interactive and enjoyable program. Thanks to all who support NEU-RXCE.
The John W. Webb lecture held on Monday evening, October 23rd was a resounding success. More than 75 attendees heard Burnis Breeland, MS, PharmD deliver the Webb Lecture entitled "Believing What We Know - Pharmacy Provides Value". His presentation was delivered with passion and with an obvious dedication to our profession.
The Vermont Pharmacists Association did another great job putting together the Pharmacy Continuing Education Program last Sunday in Montpelier, Vermont. Rain and snow did not stop the pharmacists from attending. Topics were: An Update on the Treatment of Migraines, New Treatment Options for Diabetes, Drug Pedigree and the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain, 25 Years of HIV, and Medication Errors. Contact the CE office for more information on the Vermont Pharmacists Association.
Emergency Contraception will be OTC as of November 15, 2006. Pharmacists need to complete the Emergency Contraception Training Program to be able to dispense EC with a standing order. Go to: http://www.neu.rxce.edu to view and complete the training program.
I had a couple of quick questions about CME's. Do category 1 CME's fulfill licensure requirements for Pharmacists? And, is one CME hour equivalent to one CE hour? Thanks, Mattia.
